May You Be Blessed

I have been richly blessed to come to know and love Kate Nowak personally and professionally. Her heartfelt daily blessings have enriched hundreds of thousands of lives immeasurably, including mine! Kate’s 30-day Blessing Way Challenge* has life changing testimonials from many people around the globe whose lives have been deeply touched.

Today, in an e-mail, Mac Anderson of Simple Truths, the publisher of Kate’s new book wrote the following:

"Sometimes our light goes out but is blown again into flame by an encounter with another human being. Each of us owes the deepest thanks to those who have rekindled this inner light.”

Albert Schweitzer said these words and how very true they are. We’ve all had times in our life when we desperately needed a "shot of inspiration" to move forward. Kate Nowak, has written a beautiful book that truly brings this idea to life. May You Be Blessed is not about religious beliefs…it’s about joy, appreciation, kindness and love. It is filled with inspiring stories, beautiful photographs and life-changing insights. I loved it and think you will to.

I heartily agree with Mac’s sharing, as I am also divinely enthusiastic about Kate’s book and wanted to share this special offer today from Simple Truths with you. May You Be Blessed is only $10, which includes a free three minute DVD, as a bonus, until April 24th.   May You Be Blessed also makes a lovely gift book for friends, family and employees (it is not sold through retail outlets). Call (800 900-3427) or click on the link below:

Kate personally strives to be a dispatcher of blessings in every facet of her life and I can vouch for the fact that she walks her talk and lives her truth. Kate’s memorable and powerful visuals in May You Be Blessed, along with her joy and heartfelt sharings will Velcro an imprint into your mind and heart. It is a veritable feast for the soul!

Are You Committed To Your Growth?

“I dwell in possibility.” Emily Dickinson

When we were in Bali, our guide, Ken Ballard, created an oasis in paradise. All our lovely accommodations were built out of bamboo. When we asked Ken why he used bamboo, which is not indigenous to Bali, he said because it is the fastest growing tree and ecologically it was the best for this environment. I have since learned that the Chinese Bamboo is a fragile plant. If you care for it really well the first year, it grows two inches. If you care for it well the second year, it grows two inches, and the third year two inches, and the fourth year two inches and the fifth year it grows 80 feet tall! Trees have their own growing season just like we do in our personal lives, sometimes very slowly and other times in big spurts.

"Good timber does not grow with ease,

the stronger the wind, the stronger the trees."

                                                                                …W.H. Marriott

When we plant seeds for our heart’s desires, we need to cultivate and nurture them. Cultivate means; to prepare, to grow or tend, to foster, to form and refine. If you want to prime the pump, there are specific tools outlined in my book, Magnetizing Your Heart’s Desire, as well as my 2007 CD interview, The Law of Attraction In Action.  Visualizing and writing your dreams down is the first step. They can be short and sweet, but writing them down makes them concrete. Sometimes it appears that our prayers are not being answered or our heart’s desires have not been heard. Faith is the ability to let our light shine in spite of appearances. It has been said that sorrow looks back, worry looks around, and faith looks UP, just like the trees that grow upward in the light.

When I am in the midst of strong life winds blowing, I invest more time in reflecting and appreciating what is working. Taking time to notice and cultivate what is flourishing in our life expands our wellbeing. I am grateful for health, for without it, we have little else. I give thanks for the precious love of family and friends, for their comfort, encouragement, zany sense of humor and heartfelt nurturing that brightens our lives as we grow together. Often the things we only dreamed of, we now have, if we only take time to be aware and remember. We can give thanks to trees for the lumber from which our homes are built. The wood shelters us from the elements, as well as being a haven and sanctuary for nurturing our hearts and souls. The beauty of walking in nature is a soothing balm. Emerson said, The earth laughs in flowers.” Staying true to our self and the values we hold dear keeps us grounded in gratitude and helps us grow more graciously. Trials and triumphs shape our lives, but the bend in the road is not the end of the road unless we don’t make the curve. Humor is important too. When people say “Life is hard,” you can respond, “Yes, but I prefer it to the alternative, don’t you?”  We all have free will and are shaped by our life choices.

To love and be loved is to feel the sun from both sides.”

Dr. David Viscott

It was fascinating to learn that an opal is made of dust, sand and silica, and is full of minute fissures that allow air to be trapped inside. The trapped air refracts the light, resulting in the lovely hues that inspire the opal’s nickname, the Lamp of Fire. When kept in a cool, dark place, the opal loses its luster. When held in a warm hand or when the light shines on it, the luster is restored. It’s a wonderful metaphor for our lives. When we focus on what is shiny in our lives and the warmth of love that surrounds us, we are flowing energy by focusing on what is working.

The simplicity of the 212 degrees concept* also illustrates the power of personal growth and commitment:

At 211 degrees…water is hot.
At 212 degrees…it boils.
And with boiling water, comes steam.
And steam can power a locomotive.
And, it’s that one extra degree that…
Makes all the difference.

This past week-end I participated in a Deepening seminar with Dr. Carolyn Conger in a secluded and lovely environment in Scottsdale. I first facilitated Carolyn’s three night residential retreats in Indiana starting in 1981 (and our last one was in 1989 when I moved to Arizona). Carolyn is the most powerful and yet humble woman I have ever experienced. She is a profound  teacher in psychological growth, healing, dream work, intuition, creativity, and spirituality.  It has been 17 years since our last seminar together and I so admire the ease, depth, wisdom and clarity she continues to bring forth in bridging the world of spirit and science in helping us become more of who we are.   If you would like to deepen your personal growth with conscious  commitment,  please visit Carolyn’s web site for future events at:  www.carolynconger.com

Remember, plant your seeds and your life will grow as you commit, cultivate and nurture your heart’s desires and grandest dreams!  And know that extra degree of heat makes all the difference in the circle of all possibilities!

Shine on!

A Valentine To Remember

“Our life work has to include our deepest values, passion, feelings and commitments, or it’s not work. It’s just a job.”

Matthew Fox

Valentine’s Day is a celebration of LOVE. What loving wellsprings and fertile riches are waiting within each of us to be planted for our highest heart’s desire as we listen to our heart and inner calling.

In 1980, I hosted a life changing four-day residential intensive with Dr. Brugh Joy, after reading his profound book entitled, Joy’s Way, A Map For The Transformational Journey. Brugh was the Great Awakener in my getting serious about dream work. He embodies the radiance of wisdom and love present in all true teachers, as well as having a great sense of humor.

A Valentine To Remember

Later on, Brugh shared this true story, which touched me deeply: Her name was Ballentine. Yet when I first asked her name, I heard a “V”instead of a “B”, so the wonderful name Valentine and an unforgettable nocturnal friendship were birthed in a hushed, darkened hospital corridor in the early morning of 1974. The lilting, soft, singsong Jamaican accent further enchanted me as she continued mopping the floor. She was very striking in an ethereal sort of way—tall and lean, with temples silvered and her remaining hair very black to match her eyes, all enhanced by a carriage suggestive of ancient nobility.”

“Why do you want to know my name?” she inquired as she lowered her eyes looking downward and away from me. “Because of what just happened in room #405.” I said pointedly.

Just minutes earlier, I had finished evaluating a patient who was admitted to 405 with painful pleuritic chest pain. Returning to the nursing station, I was writing an order for medications I felt would help: ‘A strong analgesic,’ I thought, ‘and a muscle relaxant. A sleeping pill should she require it, chest x-rays, electrocardiogram…’ As I was writing, I first glimpsed Valentine and her mop in her slow, rhythmic dance, moving from room to room down the hall. I thought I could even hear her humming softly—like a lullaby or a child’s sweet song. She entered room 405. I continued writing meds when I suddenly remembered I hadn’t asked my patient about any allergic reactions. I started to enter her room, only to bump gently into Valentine. She graciously nodded and revealed a most wonderful smile. She was softly singing. I entered 405 with physician responsibility. What I encountered greatly impacted me. My patient was sitting up in bed, relaxed, humming the same song Valentine was singing.

“What happened to you?” I asked. There was almost a tinge of attack in my voice.
“Oh, that wonderful woman came into my room and she was singing this childlike song.”
“Did she say or do anything?” I probed.
“No, she was just mopping and singing.”   My patient added, “I do feel so much better, Dr. Joy.” A little deflated, I asked about her allergies and left the room. Which brings me to the rest of the story.

Valentine asked, “What happened in 405?” I responded, “The patient is much better because you came into her room.” Valentine’s response was, “I am very happy she is so much better.” Through quiet hellos and eye embraces, our friendship deepened. One night she revealed how Spirit had called her. She had experienced a healing presence since childhood. Pets, people and plants seemed to get better around her. She called it “Spirit doings.” I’ll never forget her words, “Oh, I could never learn what you know to help the sick, Dr. Joy. So I prayed and waited and Spirit said: ‘Go be a night janitor at the hospital.’ “So here I am…still mopping 35 years later!” She laughed. We both laughed. I, being 35 at the time, laughed at myself, she, in childlike wonderment.

She had deepened my realization that something was missing from my soul training. Two months later my inner call came in a loud voice that said, “Your life as a physician is over.” The exploration of dreams that ensued began my apprenticeship as a night janitor to the soul.

Brugh’s touching story of Valentine confirms the clarity of heeding Spirit’s call. It beautifully reflects how she was summoned into sacred space at the hospital. “A janitor on the night shift a healer?” you might exclaim. And, yet in this case, it was Valentine’s purity of heart and her songs that healed. Valentine recognized and honored the Healing Presence of her childhood and “Spirit Doings” in childlike wonderment and dedicated her life to the guidance of her heart.

“He who knows others is wise;

She who knows herself is enlightened.”

(adapted from Lao Tzu)

How many times have we encountered angels unaware? They seldom announce themselves. They are Beings aware of “Spirit Doings.” Through their loving presence, they transmit and heal. Our “teachers” often appear in the most mysterious of ways.

Lee Carroll spoke in Phoenix about the power of intent. Kryon has repeated over and over that it is our purity of intent spoken loudly and clearly that engages our highest outcomes. Most everyone is familiar with Star Trek and the term “engage.” You are the captain of your ship and we are in the potency of “now” time to engage our focused heart’s desires. We are each the “soul” creators of what we will magnify and illuminate with our sweet spots and heart songs. Your joyous emotions and good feeeeelings are always the signal of Spirit’s presence in your life. And, commit to being where you are valued, whether it is in relationships or your career.

Buddha said,

“Your work is to discover meaningful work

and then with all your heart to give yourself to it.”

Remember, as you plant your dreams and intentions, miracles and magic will grow. Happy Valentine’s Day!

  Shine on!
